How Much Money are We Talking About?
Approximately 17,617,986 AUMs of forage are authorized annually for livestock grazing on Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management lands. If every AUM was retired at the price of $175/AUM, the initial outlay by taxpayers would be $3.1 billion. Yet this amount is significantly less than the long-term cost of continuing the public lands grazing program. Here's why.
